Use of Drones

PSVT has recently reviewed its position on the use of drones in Port Sunlight. Drones can potentially cause serious damage to the fabric of the village – the buildings, memorials and landscape – and there is also a significant risk of injury to residents and visitors.

Although some drone operators are careful, many are less considerate of the area in which they fly. PSVT cannot take responsibility for monitoring or controlling the way in which drones are flown, particularly outside working hours. Therefore, for the safety of the public and the protection of the heritage character of the Port Sunlight Conservation Area, it is not permitted to operate a drone in Port Sunlight without a commercial licence and the appropriate level of insurance.

PSVT may allow the use of commercial drones for filming, surveying or marketing purposes. This activity will be considered on a case by case basis, with strict criteria in place for insurance, risk assessments, public safety and privacy.

If you become aware of any unauthorised drone use in Port Sunlight, or you are a drone operator and would like further information, please contact PSVT on 0151 644 4800.
